The role of the dental hygienist and Oral Health Therapist within our dental team is primarily one of prevention. They are able to detect gum disease and carry out necessary treatment. Approximately 90 per cent of the population will experience gum disease, and it is the most common cause of tooth loss in the western world.
Our dental hygienist appointment is designed to evaluate your oral health, any existing gum disease is treated, and then most importantly, measures are put in place to prevent any further deterioration and maintain your oral health. You, the patient and our dental professionals work together on a maintenance strategy to prevent the repeated incidence of gum disease. The frequency of maintenance appointments will depend upon the individual.
Our dentist or hygienist will refer your child to Stacey, our Oral Health therapist, if there is some restorative work needing to be done. Stacey is qualified treat the teeth of children and teenagers with over 15 years’ experience.
We try to make the experience pain free and fun (yes even going to the dentist can be fun!)
